superbowl sunday

today i watched the game
mutch to my shagrin
my brothers in town
and wanted the bears 2 take it
i picked the other team
brotherly love
ps. i want my 4 hours back

i haven't gotten into football in so long
today i just noticed color digital lines
and that the refs have numbers
that long

at a friends house in bel air
on the deck playing ping pong
i need destractions

noise behind us, a crowd talking
who is that i ask
albert brooks she says
he must be having a super bowl party

later during the half time show
can i say how average it was first
prince is performing
my friend asks her sister
does he still live back there - pointing

yes her sister says
we still get the invites to his parties
with the prince symbol
every once in a while

these are some of the days of LA

it's good to know even legends
invite their neighbors
to their parties
don't want noise complaints
i guess
that's why i do it
hmmmm


tuesday night i'm doing some schtick
at a school friends comedy night
at a joint called big fish
in glendale

it's been ages since i got on stage
and tried new material
never performed in front of people i know
knowing they were there

the pressure is on

the crowd i'm not worried about
i can turn them, some of them
anytime

but to bomb in front of my brother
kiss of death
